Although I currently live and study in Thessaloniki, I visit my homevillage freqeuntly. The situation I face every time I visit it, is at least disappointing.

In my village, Kappa Karditsas, live at the moment at least ten stray dogs, which are not sterilized. Therefore, they give births and their number grows. Amongst the civilians of the village, it is common practice to poison or throw in the garbage(!) the newborn puppies. The problem is that these persons always do it secretely and we cannot find out who they are.

I believe that I can stop this situation by sterilizing the stray dogs of my village. At the same time, I will mark the sterilized dogs and inform the people that no more births will take place by the specific dogs. The less the births, the less the poisonings. I will start by sterilizing the female dogs first and then come the male ones. Each sterilization costs around 100 euros in Greece, so i would need around 1,000 euros to sterilize all of them. The sooner I do it, the better for the dogs.

It is really sad to see a dead dog in the middle of the village, while you take your evening walk. Help me stop this paranoia.

Thank you for reading my post
