Skill School Needed!!!

This is a plea for help for our children, there is a huge need for a skill school

Good day,

For those of you who do not know me, I am Gerrie Vermaak a Woodwork/Metalwork/Technical Drawings Teacher with 15 years experience.

My heart desires to work for purpose in this life. I was supposed to be abroad busy doing missionary work this year, but due to Tabita's cancer (my 4 year old daughter) I have had to stay in South Africa.

I have wanted to open a Skill School for many years, but I think I was not ready to take that step. God has led me through many difficulties in my life, maybe He was showing me through them, that I should not fear that things might not work out. For with God all things are possible!!

I loved being a technical teacher. It was wonderful to daily have interaction with the children and to watch them grow from strength to strength. I thrived at seeing them get things right and I had patience with them when things were going wrong. If I could get another position as a Woodwork/Metalwork/Technical Drawings teaching here, which does not exist in South Africa, I would dive right into it. The next best option I have to work with children is to open a school where I can teach them.

There is much lacking in children today, as they are not exposed to practical skills any where. There is a part of your brain that does not develop unless you use your hands in a practical way. Jesus was a Carpenter and I take Him as a good guide in life. I know not every one is made to be a carpenter, but you should at least be given the opportunity to try use your talents. This is what I am aiming to do with the children. I want to awaken good healthy practical skills that they will keep with them for a lifetime.

1st OF 3 PHASES

Phase 1 -Equipment and rent for work space to start school in January/February 2018

Phase 2 - vehicle for transporting students and material

Phase 3 - purchase/construction of buildings suitable for expansions

Aim: to start a skill school for children aged 7 years and up.

Focus: to develop a part of the children's brain which can only be achieved through learning practical skills and to create more opportunities for them in their lives.

Goal: to build/purchase a skill school and equip it with tools etc.

My focus will be mainly teaching woodwork, metalwork and technical drawings, but not limited to these areas. (Mechanics, electrics, plumbing etc will follow once we have found our feet)

I have 22 children and counting that are ready to enrol for class in January/February 2018

Please help me to make a difference in these children's lives.
