Southern Cape Bunny Haven is the only of it's kind in the Southern Hemisphere, where we specialize in disabled and special needs rabbits.
We also rescue, save and rehabilitate rabbits and have a house full of saved babies at any given time. All males get neutered when they enter our Haven, or when they are of age.
We however need funds to create more outside play areas and some safe outside enclosures to the more able bodied bunnies. We currently only have one safe run that is shared by all that needs to exercise. We do have the space, but is in need of funding for material. Our bunnies thus rotate too fast in playtime, and some do get physio as well. We seriously need more outside runs.
We also need funds for the ongoing sterilizations to ensure that there are no more baby bunnies in peril, are safe, good homes in our area is very scarce. We currently have 8 boys needing neuters ASAP. We have a no-breeding policy.
Our Chronic Medication and Food Bills exceed R2,500 per month from our pockets; which we cover, but this limits saving for the outside play areas to the extreme, and we urgently need more play space, to ensure the special bundles' health and happiness. We would be so grateful for any donations to ensure that we can continue to rescue rabbits - and other animals - and keep them safe and happy.
We currently have over 50 rabbits in the haven of whom 14 is severely disabled. The others however needs their playtime even though they are deaf or blind - we stay with them the whole time.
Have a look at our FB Page, Southern Cape Bunny Haven, to see more about the special babies (rabbits, an orphaned baby hare, a donkey, chicken, dove, guineapigs, disabled hamster etc) we have in our care; and please open your hearts to help us with sterilizations and our play areas ?
