Siquijor Youth football club for 8 to 16 years has started at siquijor island. We've been having the training for already 3 months and the number of children and teens are still growing day by day. It started when I came to a school field and brought a soccer ball and saw the kids running towards me and wanted to play. There were just 10 kids at that time playing with me at the school field.
As a volunteer coach from Italy, I came up with the idea of helping the locals to have their own club because I notice there's no football or soccer team in the island and mostly of the kids and teens are just fun of playing phones or their gadgets. Siquijor is actually part of NEGROS ORIENTAL-SIQUIJOR FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION but the island doesn't have their own club yet.
My filipino friend who is a football licensed coach in Manila and owner of the academy wanna actually make football or soccer grow in the Philippines so I wanna help him about that.
When I brought football in Siquijor, I notice too that the children and teens likes to play and they are really eager to learn more about it. They came so early to practice everyday. I saw that these kids and teens has really the potentials and skills. Though the learning process is slowing down due to lack of equipments like cones, balls, goal posts, kits, bibs, etc etc but then they still do their best as they can to achieve their goals to be the best footballer and play against other clubs or teams in other islands. The club has been actually invited to join football festivals in the neighboring island like Negros. It would be great to see these kids playing another teams and having their own kits or have more equipments through your help. With it, we can help these kids have the opportunity to dream big!
