Campaign Story
I’m Sinokholo Thumani a 21 year old golfer from Ginsberg, in King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape. My father is a pensioner and my mother is domestic worker. Because of my background I was then introduced to the game by the SAGDB (South African Golf Development Board) through their coaching program. I have been playing under the SAGDB for 11 years I then graduated from SAGDB to play for the Border region in the SAGDB inter-provincials in 2015,2016 and 2017 then from there I went on to represent the main junior border under/19 side 3 times, twice in 2016 and once in 2017.
I have been granted a scholarship to go further my golfing career and my studies in America at McCook Community college in Nebraska, but unfortunately it doesn’t cover my accommodation, flights, health insurance, meals and student F1 visa and all that costs approximately R400 000 and in order for me to reach my goal I need assistance. I am expected to leave on the 3rd week of July or first week of August
After I finish my studies I want to come back and give back to the community and get the youth involved in golf because there is perception that golf is an elite sport and I am a living testimony that proves all of that is not true
Thank you
