I'm a student from the University of Johannesburg, who would like to go to Italy-Rome next year to volunteer and teach English to underpriviledged children in the unfortunate communities.
I've never had the opportunity to travel abroad and I'm a travel enthusiast. I was the person that would hear an airplane fly above their home and wish that one day they would be able to look down from a window seat and marvel at the world from a different perspective. I consider myself a nomad, eager to explore and learn about different people, places and vast cultures that exist outside the borders of my own country.
I found this great opportunity through International Volunteers HQ to travel and help communities around the world. It is a safe and legit organisation that helps people from around the world get together and create an extraordinary system of ubuntu, reminding us that "I am because We Are". Their goals are in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and they help people like myself who are eager to help and learn, reach the people who need our help the most.
I, unfortunately do not have the finances to fund my travelling and program fees. The Organisation requires me to first register for the program by paying a registration fee of $299 with an addition of a 15% banking fee. From there I need to pay for the actual program which costs $895. These fees cover the costs of hosting me in Rome, my accomdation during the two weeks I will be volunterring and any additional services I would require to make my trip easier and safer. I also need money to travel, however during Covid-19 times travelling abroad requires a lot of expensive tests which bring my travel costs to R12 000 - R15 000.
I would appreciate any assistance that would help me travel to Rome next year. I already made myself responsible for raising my own spending money, I just need help with the financial logistics of getting me to Rome. For me this trip means more than just going abroad, it's about helping underpriviledged children learn the English language, giving them an opportunity to be apart of a global society and offering them the chance to be better than their prediposed circumstances.
Please help me help them.
