Help Sheila with Dialysis Treatment

Sheila, was a former secretary of my mother, Cely Pau-de Leon for De Cel's Catering Services. She was very hardworking and does many things more than what was expected of her. Until she was diagnosed last February 24, 2018 with Chronic Kidney Disease. She was 28 years young, then. I can only image the fear she must have felt when the doctor told her this. Her world suddenly changed before her eyes.

Her CKD is now stage 5 and requires at least 3 times of hemodialysis for her to survive her battle on a day to day basis. Her condition is emotionally, physically and financially draining to their family that sometimes, she only gets dialysis once a week. When this happens, toxins and waste will build up in her blood, her legs would get swollen and painful, she can’t sleep due to the pain, and sometimes worse, she experiences difficulty of breathing. This leads to subsequent ER admission, which is more expensive, as she has to be admitted to further management. Toxins can also reach the brain which can cause pose more serious problems if her dialysis schedule is not routinely followed.

Her doctors also told her that she would also need a kidney transplant that will set them back at least Php 1 million or USD 19,000. This is a hefty sum of money for a family who are already living below their means.

Without a constant source of income and undoubtedly high cost of treatment and medications that have been piling one after the other, I am knocking on your generous hearts on Sheila and her family’s behalf for donations.
