Dear Friends and Family,
Many of you know that I have been accepted into the American Ballet Theatre's National Teacher Training Program (http://www.abt.org/education/nationaltrainingcurr.asp). This is a nationally coordinated preprofessional quality curriculum for serious and recreational students, both children and adults, that combines the best of training from the Russian, Italian, and French schools of ballet with the most up to date information from experts in Child Development, Nutrition, and Sports Medicine and Psychology. Classes are graded, Pre-Primary through Level 7, and examinations for advancement are available every year. My first round of certification will take me through Level 3. I will be eligible to complete Levels 4-7 next summer, assuming I pass the first exams this year.
I will be travelling to San Jose for 10 days of intensive training and examinations in mid-June. I have been amazed, and dismayed, by the cost for hotels in San Jose. It's more expensive to stay in San Jose than it is to stay in San Diego!! A mid-rated (5.9 on a 10 point scale) no-frills motel is $116 a night through Priceline! I find, as distasteful as it is, that I must ask for help raising funds for my travel expenses. 10 days of hotel and restaurant food have added up to significantly more than I expected. I will be grateful for any contribution of any amount. I know times are tight for everyone, thank you for even considering financially contributing to my quest. Any overage will be carried over to support funding my other dance and fitness education projects this Summer and Fall -- Certifications for Masala Bhangra (http://www.masaladance.com/products_InstructorTrainingProgram.asp) and Pole Fitness (http://polefitnessstudio.com/certification/)
