Shan Prabhath has been in and out of hospital with an un-diagnosed disease which is causing his blood count to drop. He has also recently had a bad scooter accident and because of all these medical bills and Shan's inability to work, he and his family are losing their house. Please help his wife raise the funds for treatment and to save their house!
I met Shan, his wife Priyanthi and their 7 year-old son Mayal when I was a lone visitor to their town in Sri Lanka in May 2014, and immediately they showed me kindness and generosity, despite having very little of monetary value.
It was only later that I found out that Shan has been in and out of hospital for 2 months, and now faces another 6 months of treatment to try and raise his blood platelet count which has dropped to worrying levels.
More recently Shan also had a bad accident on his scooter the road. His wife Priyanthi has been struggling to find the funds to continue to send their 7 year old son to school, pay the rent and feed them all. The medical costs for the blood treatment are £400 for the 6 months (as long as no extra tests are needed), and the family need to find another £300 as they have now lost their house after being unable to pay the rent.
This family are wonderful and kind people who have shown compassion to me as and to others who they have fed and housed in hard times.
They live such a simple life that the amount they need for their family for 6 months is probably equivalent to what most families spend in a week in the UK or USA.
I cannot donate all this amount by myself, so I ask if you could spare even just the odd dollar to contribute to Shan's treatment and to help the family re-rent their house, it would make such a difference to this family!Thank you.
