Help Send our Volunteers to Battered Mothers Conference

We have a few projects we would love to launch in 2013 in addition to what we are currently doing, but in order for them to materialize, we need your help. Massachusetts Survivors Outreach  is a grass roots organization based in Massachusetts who advocate for victims of domestic violence dealing with the family court system, aid victims in the healing process by providing holistic services such as Reiki, coaching, and meditation, and research the impacts domestic abuse in the health care system, legal system, and search for long term and permanent solutions to healing from abuse. We currently operate with 100% volunteers and with 100% community donations.

THE PROJECT TO FUND ...

Tenth Annual Battered Mothers Custody Conference and Mothers of Lost Children in May 2013 – This is the largest conference on the east coast dealing with the injustices victims of abuse face every day.  We are in need of acquiring assistance to help get our leaders attend this conference to represent the countless voices of Mothers who have lost custody due to injustices in Massachusetts.According the the Amercian Judges Association, batterers are gaining custody in  70% of contested custody disputes involving abuse. We are currently working on statistics on the fallout from such a high number in regards to the current economic crisis and the contribution to the health care crisis. There are already substantial studies documenting the links between abuse and long term health consequences costing over $5 billion a year and mental health costs are the most costly next to asthma.

Help us fund this project so we can better help victims of abuse. The research we do is based on Massachusetts but the results can have a profound national impact, but we need your help.

About the Battered Women's Conference - Tenth Annual Battered Mothers Custody Conference and
Mothers of Lost Children are combining efforts to have a Washington DC conference at George Washington University Law School, a Mothers' Day rally at the White House and a lobbying day at Congress.
