Hi all. Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page!

My name is Marc Murphy, and my sister, Taryn Murphy, has recently qualified to represent South Africa at the World Agility Championships in Zaragoza, Spain in September this year. This has been a dream of hers for as long as I can remember. I've set up this page in the hope of getting some money together to help in getting her there. I have added in some comments from Taryn from a local paper who interviewed her.

“I started dog training at the Bluff Dog Club at 17 years old with my first dog, Misty. I also saw agility at the World of Dogs and Cats and knew from the moment I saw it that this was a sport for me. I noticed that Border Collies were the breed to go with if you wanted to do well so I got my first Border Collie, Zest, a year later and started agility training"

However China and her have a special bond.
“China was imported from the Netherlands by a friend, Sharleen. Sharleen then fell ill with breast cancer and a month before she passed she sent China to me. China was nine months at the time.
I knew China had the potential to compete at a high level so we worked very hard in which we had to first compete in the South African Trials in the province to go to South African Finals.
The top 60 dogs, over all heights, get chosen to compete in the finals (which was in Cape Town this year). Of those 60 dogs there were about 40 large dogs. Of those 40 large dogs there were about 20 who decided to try out for the South African team.
In order to be on the team you have to be in the top four after your five rounds at the finals. China was in fourth place in SAs and fourth place in the try outs. This now makes him eligible to be on the team. He also came in the top 10 of the try outs which also makes him eligible to compete as an individual at the World Champs. The World Champs this year is in Zaragoza in Spain."

"However the cost of the trip will range between R30,000 to R40,000 (£2,000.00) and the most expensive part is the transporting of China. This is going to be tough as a teacher's salary normally just gets me by every month. I am doing this on God's grace and faith as this has always been a dream of mine and this is not an easy thing to achieve.”

How you can help?

Even though she has qualified, she will still have to pay her way there and for accommodation. As well as the cost to fly her dog China out to Spain....which is the greatest expense. So please give whatever you can. Any amount is welcomed. Nothing is too small and everything will be appreciated.

Please share this page with friends, colleagues and family.

Many thanks

Marc
