Hi, my name is Joe and I am a Hudson High class of 2020 graduate. I am currently in the process of joining the Air Force, but it has been a long time dream of mine to volunteer around the world. I wanted to do something before I joined and had less free time, and so I started looking and found IVHQ and the many opportunities they offer. It would mean a lot to me to be able to go on this trip because it's a chance to make a positive impact in the world, and for those local communities.

Hello! My name is Leah Chagnon and I am a 21 year old from Hudson, Massachusetts. In 2018, I had the opportunity to travel to Iquitos, Peru and since then my desire to travel only grew. I haven’t had much opportunity to travel since then, and this is a great way for me to embrace a new culture while also learning more about myself. This experience will be life changing and I would appreciate any donation!

INFORMATION ABOUT OUR TRIP:

On February 28th, 2022 we will embark on our first journey to Nungwi, Zanzibar for four weeks. Here we will be working with local marine biologists on a sea turtle conservation project. We will be cleaning the turtles and lagoon, collecting seaweed, feeding the turtles, medically treating sick/injured turtles, and also guiding tourists around the sanctuary. On April 1st, 2022 we will be traveling to our next volunteer location Arusha, Tanzania. Here we will join the animal welfare program and visit local farms and homes in order to treat both domestic and farm animals. Our job is to assist a local veterinarian in caring for these animals, learn about animal welfare in a developing country, and gain animal care experience.

WHAT WILL YOUR DONATION DO:

As you can imagine traveling 7,000 miles away from home is extremely costly. Your donation will help make this trip possible for the both of us. The money we raise will go towards airfare and transportation, program fees, travel insurance, and vaccinations. Some will also be used towards purchasing supplies for the community. (If you cannot donate money other donations would be greatly appreciated such as clothes, school supplies, medical supplies, etc.)

Thank you for taking the time to view our fundraising page! If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Joe or I:)
