My name is Journee Postman. I am a grade 10 student currently attending Hillcrest High School and a dedicated public speaker. But above everything I am a passionate debater. Originally, I am from Johannesburg, but my family and I have recently relocated to Durban. Initially, I had a difficult time adjusting to my new surroundings, but then I joined debating and could not feel more at home.
In the past year, I have debated with my school's debating team provincially, winning the majority of our debates. I have also debated at a national level, having qualified as a finalist at the 2016 NIDPSC (National Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships) held at St. Mary's this past October.
When I first found out about the Heart of Europe International Debating Tournament being held in Czech Republic next year, I knew that it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience as a debater and also to represent my country.
But unfortunately, my family is not financially able to afford the hefty price attached to this tournament, which includes flight and accommodation costs. All I need is R25 000 (€1650) ,so any donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated and highly valued! The fact that I have been blessed with this opportunity is beyond describable and I hope that I can make South Africa proud!
