Campaign Story
Scout is a loving 8-year-old beagle who came to us with chronic medical issues from one of our shelter partners. Up until recently, his transition to his foster home in New Jersey had been wonderful. He was living life to the fullest—enjoying car rides, munching on food, relaxing with his foster family, playing outdoors, and enjoying the company of children and other dogs. Unfortunately, Scout's health took a turn for the worse when he developed pneumonia last week. His treatment and rehabilitation have required multiple veterinary consultations and a five-day stay at an emergency animal hospital.
When he was admitted, Scout was struggling to breathe on his own (he was not able to take in oxygen well). His respiratory rate was very high, and he was running a fever. Thankfully, his condition is on the upswing, and X-rays show that his lungs are improving. We're hoping that he'll be released from the emergency vet on Tuesday. Scout will likely need medication long-term to manage the chronic crackling in his lungs.
So far, Scout's veterinary bills have totaled $5,000. Please help us bring Scout back to good health with a contribution of any size. If you're not able to give, this sweet pup could also use your well wishes and shares on social media. Thank you for your support, and stay tuned to this page and our social media channels for updates!
