We live in a small European country called Moldova. It is the poorest, and one of the most corrupt countries in eastern Europe.

In the spring of year 2011 - me, and 19 other families have bought apartments that have just started building in a mansard (attic) construction work. These are attic type fully functional apartments constructed on top of already existing apartment buildings, which are a common thing in these areas.

The company selling and building them was Scartevit, we were greeted by a chubby charismatic man, who promised that the construction would be finished by the summer of 2012

And indeed they proceeded very fast, the construction was progressing faster than expected, the walls grew. But then something happened and it all stopped. Some legal problems they say. After that it progressed very slow.

Long story short - instead of 1 year as promised - they finished building in 4 years. During that time - They started another attic-type apartment complex, on the next block, from what we have heard - from the money we paid for ours.

This means another 20 apartments people paid in entirety! Up to this day, the second building is only half constructed.

During all this time (4 years and another 3 years after that), there hasn't been a week when we didn't all go the firm to demand our rights, to which they always promised that it will be done soon (construction + legalization process). It is 20 families who lost 8 years of their life, worrying, hoping, with an uncertain fate. People have had nervous breakdowns more often than not, lost hope, and loved ones, and the uncertainty was a silent killer through all these years.

For us to move into those apartments - they need to be legally approved. It is a complex procedure, and after it we are legally owners of these apartments. Up until this day - they haven't been approved, and we can lose them in an instant at a whim of a legal officer. Do you know how it is when you paid for something, thinking it is yours, but then you don't know when and if it ever will be?

The firm that sold them to us, did some obscure schemes with the money we gave them, started devious projects, and the money is now nowhere to be found.

But the charismatic owner bought himself a mansion and a car. Over 40 families are now homeless because of him, and lost 8 years of their lives. He has been in prison and out, but he bribed the judge to let him free (on our money!)

Last year they declared bankruptcy , and now we, the owners of both apartment buildings face a harsh situation. We cannot legally become owners of the apartments, unless we pay a substantial amount of money (over $50.000) to finish both apartment buildings, otherwise the flats will be taken from us, and sold for a low price to the highest bidder.

Basically we are left with the company's debts on our shoulders.

We are desperate. Most people here make at most $300 a month (yes. that's a month), and have families to feed.

At this rate - we don't stand a chance! We need your help! We need to gather $50.000 by the end of this year (2018) or 40 families with twice as many children face certain homelessness!

We sincerely hope and warmly welcome your support!

Thank you!
