My husband and I rescue animals. We don't have any "human" children, and we are suckers for animals in need. We live in this rural area of Georgia, we hardly have people around us, and when we moved to this property we rescued what we thought was a black kitten, which turned out to be a very small cat, but not much later we found out was already pregnant with three. We already had 4 rescued cats, including the mama, who we named Tinkerbell. (All our pets have Disney names, as we are HUGE fans of anything Disney). Since we already had 4 cats and two rescued dogs, we decided that we would put the kittens up for adoption once they were born. But when Mama was in labor, I had to help her give birth to those kittens in my closet. Once I had them in my hands, and seeing her take care of them, well...needless to say, my cat count grew to seven. We've had a horrible last few years, as we both have been deeply affected with the recession. We both have lost jobs, have gone from a very comfortable income to almost nothing for the past 4 years. In spite of everything, we have refused to let go of our "children", which would have been the easiest alternative. We've taken care of them, denying ourselves of some basic needs in order to take care of them. We love them so much! Tigger has developed kidney disease, and has a life threatening blockage that requires very delicate surgery. We find ourselves in a desperate situation, as the price of this surgery will run into thousands. I can't explain how scary and painful this is on my husband and I. I know that we are not the first nor will be the last pet owners that will face this kind of challenge. We both have full time jobs, but they barely cover our basic necessities. We don't have any funds available that we can spare. As it is, we've had to talk to our bank to see if we can delay our mortgage payment, just so we can come up with some money for this surgery. We need help. I'm begging you to please reach into the kindness of your heart, and help us save this wonderful cat. He is ten years old, he fetches, he's extremely outgoing and loving. He's the apple of my eyes. All of you animal lovers out there, I know that you understand how painful and stressful this can be. I wish that I could come up with a much better story, worthy of Good Morning America, or a show like it. Unfortunately, I can't. My plea is very simple. We've fallen into some very hard times, and we need help right now. I beg you; please help us save Tigger!
