Campaign Story
Last year I started this page to help raise money for Spanish strays by getting sponsorship for doing a wolfrun, this year I'm hoping to raise even more!
So this year myself and three friends are running not one, not two, not three but four 10K Wolfruns. These 10K mud infested, killer, obstacle courses are spaced throughout the year and are often freezing cold and pure madness!
But this is to raise money for something we believe in - the rescue and rehoming of helpless starving dogs and cats from the streets in Spain. These poor little mites have been cruelly abandoned, usually at a tender young age (often a litter in a bag in a bin!), or when they've gotten too costly to keep (case and point - a dog named Bob who was an estimated 16 years old when found - blind, deaf, starving, with no teeth and almost completely bald!).
We have paid the registration fees ourselves, so every penny will be going towards helping save these poor waifs and strays!
Christina Catlin-Groves and Chris Hardman rehomed the below dogs (Belle and Tink), and Hannah Lewis and David Paramore rehomed another rescue (Marmalade now Bomber) (Left to right in top picture). We frequently look into the eyes of our new family members and remember where they came from and the hardship they had to endure before they came to us. Every time it's heart wrenching, and every time we're reminded about all the animals that are still on the streets, suffering, desperately needing another chance.
An example of why we're raising money
The rescue:
These poor pups are actually pretty 'easy' rescues, but it's still no less heart rending to see them so desperate on the streets at such a tender age. By easy, I of course mean they had no additional medical concerns and hadn't yet become injured or ill. Belle, we found out after the rescue, had been sighted with two litter sisters/brothers who had since vanished (we can safely assume that they were either predated, died of illness/starvation or were run over nearby) so it was only a matter of time before Belle went the same way. These are just two of the many many dogs who have been rescued. Belle is on the left, having just been found and offered water - you can see the terror & distrust in her eyes. Romeo (now Tinker) is on the right, a very young male dog covered in ticks and starving.
After Rescue!
Both Belle and Romeo were rescued, treated, neutered and cared for and are now much happier dogs in their forever home!
Belle and Romeo have both been rescued from the streets. Covered in ticks, untrusting of humans, starving and terrified, they have been taken in, treated, vaccinated and neutered and now have a home. Both were a tender young age of only about 4 months old (best guess) and had been on the streets for some time. It's only because of the massive hearts and generosity of people like yourselves that they could be rescued and rehomed! Otherwise, there would be no option but to keep on walking by... :(
Every penny raised helps rescue dogs and cats like these, and contributes to their ongoing welfare, medication and husbandry costs to get them ready for re-homing into what we hope will be their forever homes!

Welcome in 2016!
Update posted by CHANCE Animal Rescue at 09:08 pmSo, we've been a bit quiet recently, but now we're up and running (boom boom) once more... A quick catch up, so we've decided to fundraise as a team this year. Due to a bit of an accident by myself (almost loosing a finger) things didn't quite go as planned. . . . .
Today's the day!
Update posted by CHANCE Animal Rescue at 08:29 amOk, so today's the day it happens. And despite watching the weather all week I did hold out hope that it might be passable. This morning I awoke to the sound of heavy rain falling. Miserable. My back is still sore, but passable. It's cold. This is not a recipe
My first Parkrun... In the rain!
Update posted by CHANCE Animal Rescue at 12:18 pmI overslept this morning. I was supposed to be going for a long run. I woke up at 8.10am, and I had to leave by 8.20am to meet my fellow wolf (Hannah, who's in my Wolfrun team), at 8.30am! Having rushed out of bed, jumped into my running gear and. . . . .
290 per dog - from street to forever home...
Update posted by CHANCE Animal Rescue at 03:25 pmSo... Just to give everyone an idea of why this is so important. Below you can see the costs associated with the rescue of these dogs, one dog costs (on average) 91 Euros (that's around 65) to get to a rehomable condition. Remember that one cost doesn't include neutering or. . . . .
Today's training run
Update posted by CHANCE Animal Rescue at 11:34 pmSo today, me and a team mate did a short run as part of our training. It was supposed to be longer but some permanently red traffic lights mean't we didn't get to our starting point early enough for our full route. But still, almost two miles (that's just over. . . . .
Why am I doing this?
Update posted by CHANCE Animal Rescue at 01:46 pmJust seen these lovely images of last years Winter Wolfrun... What have I let myself in for! Note to self: MUST REMEMBER - it's for a good cause! Dig deep guys - looks like I'll be doing more digging myself out than running at the Wolfrun!
