If you follow my Instagram ( @therealgrainydijonmustard ) you may have seen that I frequently travel to Sri Lanka as part of my job and, during my non-work hours, I spend most of my time wandering the streets of Colombo feeding the street cats. I do this because there are millions of stray cats in Sri Lanka that are horribly mistreated. People that don't want cats around their houses will kick, poison or even break the necks of any cats they can get their hands on, often not caring enough to actually finish the job, leaving the poor creature to suffer. There are a few pockets of individuals that, like me, are driven by compassion, to try and have some impact. They spend their evenings and weekends collecting cats to spay and neuter, vaccinate and give emergency vet treatment to. Healthy ones are then released back in to their neighbourhoods, but the ones that are too sick or injured need a safer solution, as do pregnant cats and kittens that can't be sterilized yet.
