Help pay for Peggy Sue’s Surgery Bill.

Update posted by Nena Hernandez On Feb 05, 2016

We have great news! Peggy Sue's results came in and her tumors were not malignant. They were papilomas which the doctor from the lab that did the biopsy and one of Peggy Sue's "guardian angels" said that it was good she had the surgery because the tumors could have become cancerous. Thank you to ALL of Peggy Sue's "guardian angels" who donated so that her outstanding vet bill is paid. We only have $61.00 left in the vet bill balance. Anyone out there who can help? $61.00 in Philippine pesos is about P2,806.00. Once we have reached this balance, we will close the campaign and move on to help other dogs needing medical care. Also, check current photos of Peggy Sue uploaded as she enjoys her walk in the IRO Lolo Ali Center. She is active now and gaining weight. One thing Peggy Sue used to do in the IRO Pit Bull Rehabilitation Center was she would drop down and refuse to go back to her cage. So we had to carry her back no matter where we were on our walk. We used to feel so bad that we couldn't provide her with a kennel as there were so many other dogs to provide for but we discovered that it was not the cage, a kennel, or even the room she now has in the Lolo Ali Center. Peggy Sue just wants to be with humans! She will be available for a furever home once she gets her wonderful vets' clearance. In the meantime, she is becoming stronger, active, and heavier again, but we will monitor her diet so that she doesn't become obese like she was before.

Peggy Sue got more than her 15 minutes of fame this weekend. She paid it forward and starred in a film project showing the plight of abused dogs and what good lovin’ can do for rehabilitation. No animal was harmed in the making of the film. She was just showered with too much attention, had double the treats and pampered with massages on set. It has yet to be confirmed if she’s really the diva that she’s rumored to be. Please check photo gallery for recent photo.

Peggy Sue went to have her stitches taken out and the veterinarians, Drs. Esguerra and Sinabre from the San Roque Animal Hospital in Carcar, Cebu, said that she has healed excellently! Peggy Sue is recovering so well that a sign she was feeling well is that she was playing with all the Christmas wrappers in the lower level of a book case in the laundry room (her healing room). She is energetic, jumping around, and enjoying her walks. Her mattress I gave her to sleep on, most probably the first time in all her life, has been torn but she still has her sheets that she loves a lot in her good sized doggie bed. Now we are waiting for the results of her biopsy.

Peggy Sue had her surgery on 12/28/15. She tolerated the surgery very well. According to Drs. Esguerra and Sinabre from San Roque Animal Clinic in Carcar, Cebu, the tumor removed was very large. They also found a smaller tumor in the next mammary gland which was harder. That tumor was also removed. Samples of the biopsy will be sent for analysis to determine whether they are malignant. Peggy Sue was discharged today, 12/30/15 so that she can recover peacefully among us at the IRO Lolo Ali Center. She is being housed in a special "ICU" room which is the Center's large laundry room. She has her own dog bed, mattress, and clean sheets. Please check the photos uploaded today when I picked up Peggy Sue from the clinic. Thank you!

12/23/15: Peggy Sue continues to eat well but the tumor is growing. She will be scheduled for her surgery for 12/28 as time is of essence. Peggy Sue continues to be sweet as ever and has adjusted well in the IRO Lolo Ali Center in the mountains. Will post a picture of the Lolo Ali Center.

12/29/2015: Spoke to the vet to follow-up on Peggy Sue’s condition. She ate this morning and is strong. The tumor was big and they found another one in her mammary gland. The vet took that out too. Samples were sent to the lab and we will be waiting anxiously for the results. Hoping that Peggy Sue can be released tomorrow and getting her recovery room here at the Center ready. She will have a mattress ready in a nice dog bed and given plenty of special care, food, and loves. I miss her and want her back in the mountains. Prayers are always needed for this most loving pit bull gal.

12/28/15: Peggy had her surgery early this evening. Finally after worrying all these hours, I got a text from the vet at around 11:45 tonight saying that Peggy Sue is doing well after surgery and that she tried to lift her head already. Will get a more detailed report tomorrow. My inner voice is telling me right now not to visit her because she is going to want to come home with me and that may stress her. She will not understand why I am there and she can’t leave with me. I have asked the vet to take a picture of the tumor. It will be sent to the lab to determine whether it is malignant tomorrow. Please continue praying for Peggy Sue so that she recovers well and becomes strong. Thank you for being there in spirit with her.

12/28/2015: Today I take Peggy Sue in for her lab work and find out what time she will be going in for her surgery tomorrow. We can’t wait any longer as her tumor is getting bigger and it needs to be removed. We also have to find out whether it is malignant in order for us to begin her post surgical treatment immediately. Will update all on her condition.
