Warm greetings from me and the whole Lopez Family.

I am Nikki also known as Nicole Lopez, Taguig City, Philippines residence for 25 years. I composed this letter to help my family, the whole Lopez clan, from being in debt by the Lending company under Asian Cathay Finance and Leasing Corporation who made a process wherein, they allowed my Grandparents, having no source of income at all, to borrow money amounting to Php 350,000 (Philippine Peso) and their property, the House and Lot, as collateral.

What happened here was my grandparents loaned some money before with the authorization of their daughter (my Aunt) and as a co-maker for the restructuring of the house. Because of the outstanding payment by their daughter (my Aunt), the lending company then contacted my Grandfather to lend again but their daughter (my Aunt) refused to renew the loan. So, my Grandfather decided on his own to renew the contract and made my Grandmother as a co-maker, for a fact that she doesn't have any source of income at all, even without the authorization of their daughter by early 2014 and due to lack of income, my grandparents were only able to pay the first 6 months with more than 12,000 monthly.

By October 2017, We received a notice from the lending company saying that we need to vacate the property within 15 days upon the receipt of the notice and that the occupation of the property becomes ILLEGAL. My Grandfather received lots of notices from the lending company since 2015, and the last notice was the “Notice to vacate”. This came to our surprise because all my Auntie, Uncles, as well as my Papa, aren’t aware of what their father and mother did. The Loan application was approved without the knowledge and consent of their children. My grandparent's age are 76 and 78, couldn’t see, read and hear well, also believed that these seniors have Alzheimer’s disease. The whole family was confused, how and why did the lending company allowed seniors who are incapable and in poor health without any medical assessment, renewed the contract.

The amount needed to be settled is Php 744,000 (Philippine Peso), estimated. Asian Cathay is asking us to pay the initial amount of Php 360,000 (Philippine Peso) but we were able to negotiate and lower the amount to Php280,000 (Philippine Peso) and the remaining will be subjected for reconstruction to a monthly basis worth Php 11,923 (Philippine Peso) payable up to 60 months with 54% interest rate. Prior to this, the lending company didn't even bother to give notifications over the period from 2014, to remind the payment at least to their children for we will all be aware and this will be avoided as early as possible. As of now, we already accumulated a total of Php 180,000 (Philippine Peso) from my papa’s salary loan amounting to 150,000 (Philippine Peso) plus all of our consolidated cash which is Php 30,000 (Philippine Peso), coming from selling junks, clothes, toys, volunteered amount of each family, Christmas caroling and the monthly pension of my Grandfather from SSS. We are still fighting to accumulate the remaining Php 100,000 (Philippine Peso) for us to complete the initial payment. If we were unable to pay the initial cash out, all of us, as well as the tenants with their families, will be forced to move out of the property by end of the December 2017. The affected property is consist of 8-12 families. We also sought help from our capable relatives, Tulfo and Public Attorney’s Office and other Government Officials but sad to say, we weren’t able to receive a positive feedback.

We’re now looking for resolution. We need to comply with the payment at least the partial amount which is 280,000 pesos. Any donation or help will be highly appreciated.

My whole family is reaching for your deepest understanding and asking for help about this matter. We are the residents of Taguig City, Philippines for almost 5 decades, currently living in the affected property and we want to hold and stay here for us to continue living.

Christmas is in the air and I do hope for your kindness and understanding. Your response is highly appreciated.
