First off, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read over our fundraiser. We are not the type of people who ask for financial assistance, but this situation has become desperate.
You can help rescue a real legacy of photographs and information as well as help make it possible for all of it to be shared with many others searching for facts and pictures of thier ancestors. For many years, our families have always loved geneology and sharing historical information with our relatives. Our grandmothers researched family history the hard way, before the internet and computers, via libraries, phone books, family reunions, shared conversations and wrote it all down on paper. Many generations of paperwork, documents and photos have been handed down to us over the years. If we could just gather it all together, we plan on doing extensive scanning, compiling, researching and posting on our family trees at Ancestry.com for the world to have access to. Some of the family surnames are: Bridson, Todd, Carr, McCall, Collins, Gage, Hunt, Osborne, Rich, Teague, Roberson, Lloyd and hundreds more.
Over the last 10 years, we have been forced to move a few times, on the spur of the moment, due to family emergencies. As we had no savings, it was easiest to put our things into storage units temporarily. We have collections of family historical documents, photographs and objects with important memories atttached, stored in three states, that we are paying rent on every month. There are irreplaceable items that document the histories of our families, backwards in time, over many generations.
We have been dealing with unemployment, lack of medical insurance, multiple serious health problems, as well as trying to help our 19 year old son get some type of college education and 3 other children who have mental health issues. Three of our four children have been hospitalized at some point in the last year. It has been a huge struggle with our current financial situation. We are unable to continue paying for everything and we will lose our stored items, e.g. our family's legacy, if we are unable to get help very soon.
Friends in all 3 locations have offered to help out with packing, moving, delivering donated items we will be letting go of and overseeing our home and children while we make the trip.
The aproximate costs for collecting all of our things and returning home with them are as follows:
- $500. airfare for 2 adults to location #1
- $200. car rental 3 days
- $250. motel 3 days while sorting and packing
- $1250. minimum truck rental cost - 1500 miles
- $500.+ gasoline cost
- $150. motel 2 days at location #2
- $150. food during trip
- $250. storage unit (1 month rent + equal amt. deposit) in home town
