My friend Monalisa Samson is one of the best people I’ve ever known and we’ve been best friends for 25 years now. She’s a picture of confidence, kindness and generosity not only to her family and friends, but also to other people. I love her so much but I usually tell her to think about herself more, prioritize her health most specially, so she may be able to extend help to others some more.

Just recently she’s been complaining about severe headaches. I’ve known her to have occasional migraines but not this kind. This Christmas she has been complaining a lot more of these headaches and our worried friends have asked her to consult a doctor immediately. Initially she was asked to have her eye checked but was later cleared and advised for a CT Scan. Mona has been okay in everything through the years that I’ve known her, and I always knew if she has a burden or something. That’s when I found out she’s been financially broke these past few months and my heart just sank to learn she has no medical insurance and nothing on her bank. She’s truly devastated and I’m thinking it could’ve directly influenced her health. She's tough but it was too much for her. Her family then decided to put her in some public hospitals here because of financial issues but ended up not being admitted because of medical equipment concerns. Despite having no money, we encouraged her family to go to a private hospital. The cost of just being there is already discouraging; but we value her so much that we just had to do our best for her.

Now that her CT Scan and MRI are done, she’s been diagnosed to have a brain tumor. We were in shock to hear that and honestly, I still can't wrap my head around it. There’s still an inflammation according to her doctor, so she’s under medication to help bring down the swelling before undergoing operation which is immediately needed. The family is still wary about this procedure as well as scared of the unimaginable cost being explained to us, but we are trying to remain focused on what’s needed despite the money problems and our fear of what’s gonna happen next.

We are reaching out to everyone now, all of our friends, and Mona’s colleagues because this is a time-sensitive situation and we can’t miss any minute. We are asking for your kind hearts right now; of any amount you may be willing to share for our friend. I know your help will go a long long way to help with her surgery, medications and her final bill here at The Medical City. Our hope is to see her in good health again -- see her smile. We know it’s possible. Her two lovely daughters don't really know what's happening now, but they are both really smart and my heart is breaking whenever I think they probably know what's going on all along; they must be so worried for their Mom. We can’t wait to see the strong Mona again, sharing her kindness and love to everyone. Right now we are still waiting for the next step from her doctor and will be ready to give you updates. Thanks for reading this and thank you in advance for any help.

With overflowing love and gratefulness,

Jard
