Our three-year-old cat, Mikoto, has become infected with Feline Leukemia Virus. Contrary to its name, it is not a cancer, but more like HIV: It weakens the immune system and makes the cat vulnerable to sicknesses that most cats would not have trouble with. Because of this, she has contracted a bacterial infection that has made her feverish for over three weeks now. She is currently undergoing confinement and treatment at Hayop Kalinga Veterinary Clinic, and they are doing what they can to relieve her of the symptoms of her current infection.

While the FeLV virus itself cannot be cured (just like HIV in humans), the symptoms of the present bacterial infection can still be relieved. In fact, with proper care, the vets say that Mikoto can still enjoy another three years of living at home! So hope is not lost!

Unfortunately, we lack the financial ability to support this treatment by ourselves. This is where you can help!

Please donate to our cause to Help Save Mikoto! Our goal is 25,000 PHP (510 USD).

The funds acquired from this campaign will be used to pay for Mikoto's confinement, treatment, and testing, at Hayop Kalinga, and cover other related expenses such as the purchase of medicine, supplements, and other unexpected expenses.

Mikoto can still live a good three years. That's double her current life! Let us not deprive her of this chance. Let's give her the opportunity to keep on living!

Update posted by Israel Soltura at 02:38 am

Great news, everybody! Mikoto is being released from confinement today! Her White Blood Cell count has gone down from 46,000 to 37,000, and she's stable. They're putting her on two weeks of Enrofloxacin and a month of Prednisone. Thank you so much for all your donations!
