Help save Harley’s vision

Update posted by Marivel Garcia On Mar 22, 2019

I recently found myself in an impossible situation when my son had an accident and fell on a nail. I was in a panic at that news and it was even worse when I heard the nail had hit his eye :(

I was so afraid that Harly would lose his eye and rushed to get a van to my province where my papa and sister care for Harley, while I work in Davao City. The whole way I was worrying and crying.

Once I arrived at the hospital they had taken my son too, I was confronted by the doctor and told he needed to perform an operation to save Harley’s vision, i wanted to start crying again, but was trying to remain strong for my son, since he was already scared.

I was in shock then too, as the Doctor started telling me that the cost for the operation was going to cost over 50,000php, an amount that seemed impossible for me to pay. The doctor also said that without this surgery my son would not have any chance of seeing out of his left eye again. I was heartbroken at that thought and burst into tears.

I called my family and asked if they could assist me to find the money and also messaged my bosses to tell them what had happened. My family were unable to find any money as we are not a well off family to start with and the local barangay captains were limited to assist as it was an election and they were using funds for campaigns. I was so lost as to what to do and was being pushed by the doctor to do the operation to save Harley’s vision in his left eye, but I had no way to pay for it and the hospital would not do it without a deposit of 20,000php.

What i did not at that time was my bosses had started a Go Get Funding page to raise funds to help my son and I, actually it was already over 20,000php when they told me. They sent me the deposit and allowed Harley to get the operation he needed to see again. My workmates also had raised money to help me too, I was in shock at all this good will.

Harley and I will forever be in debt to the generosity of friends and strangers that helped us when many didn't even know us personally. I thank each and everyone of you for your donations and your messages of support for my son and I. You are all such amazing and beautiful people to help complete strangers and I hope that you are all blessed in your life.

Harley is doing well on his recovery and is currently wearing an eye patch as his eye heals, the doctor said that he will need to have meds and follow ups for the next few months. We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery and that would not have been possible without all your donations, so again we thank you and God bless you all.

Harley wants to say thank you also and he is very thankful for your generosity and kindness, he now has a brighter future because of all of you.

Thank you,

Lotricia and Harley

Last night Harley under went surgery on his damaged left eye, the doctors installed a tube in his eye to help with the recovery of his eye and hopefully his vision.

The doctors advised that the surgery was a success and that the tube will be for a few months, during which time the eye will be very sensitive and need a lot of attention to make sure h makes a full recovery.

The deposit of 20,000php was paid yesterday before they would start the surgery and Tricia is working on the discharge paperwork today. Once the discharge paperwork is organised she will be presented with the total for the procedure and the hospital stay, this amount will need to be paid before they will allow Harley to be discharged and leave the hospital.

Tricia had to also sign a waiver stating that she would take full responsibility for the complete payment required for Harley's hospital stay and procedure, so will need to make the full payment to take Harley home.

We have added some more images to the campaign showing the lead up to surgery and the after surgery also. There will also be more images of the procedure costs etc, to come, along with the hospital costs there is also a significant amount of medication required for the aftercare. Our intent is to raise the funds for the hospital stay, procedure and to assist with some of the aftercare expenses.

Many thanks to all that have already given and those that are planning to still, god bless you all and Tricia and Harley thank you from the bottoms of their hearts :)
