Hi. This is our amazing puppy, Doug. He is a very happy and energetic shih tzu. He is a little boy, although you can't tell from his shaggy hair. We got Doug from a rescue shelter. He was part of an ongoing puppy mill. According to the police, the conditions were really bad. His mother was being kept in horrible conditions. This was the prime example of why to get an animal from a shelter, and not a pet store. This little guy and his family were very lucky. They were found in decent shape. A little hungry, but needed major league bathing. All of his siblings and parents are now placed in good homes. He is a happy and smart little guy. Doug was very happy playing with his new family and neighbors. We had on bad mistake. I blame myself, but it does no good. One of the little neighbor kids was holding his leash and let go. I almost fainted. Doug decided at this point to take himself for a walk. It was bad. He almost made it across the street. His rear leg was run over by a car. We were thankful that this is a residential street and traffic moves slow. We were most luck that just a leg was caught. Otherwise, it would have been over. We rushed Doug to the nearest emergency pet clinic. They wanted to put him down. I couldn't do it. He was born into such a bad situation, I wanted him to live. The leg was fixed, but he needs follow up visits and physical therapy. I didn't even know there was such a thing for animals. I feel goofy for trying to raise money for his bills, when so many people need help in this world. I just had to save him. The kids were crushed. We would appreciate any help. No matter what the amount is. I will be posting more pics as available with his recovery. Thank you for even reading and your consideration.
