Update: with the money gathered until now,for which we are immensely grateful for, we managed to file a lawsuit for domestic abuse and serious injuries. This particular type of lawsuit forbids that the abuser comes close to Dora's residence, however he showed up again on Monday, the 14th of December, broke into her apartment and attempted to choke her dog while she was at work. Pictures of this incident have been added as proof. The police filed a report for a break-in, however the neighbours, that saw the abuser and recognized him, do not wish to testify out of fear. Now we ask again for your help, since Dora must be removed from her current residency as soon as humanly possible. Her life is being threatened and with courts closed as the 2nd COVID wave dictates, no legal action can be taken as of now. Our only choice is to help her move out by supporting her with the finances necessary. We are afraid that if we do not act now, another murder attempt may happen very soon. Please help us save Dora.

Dora has been abused by her previous partner. She gathered the courage to leave him in August 2019. However, her abuse didn't stop then. In January this year, he attacked in her new home with a knife, wanting to kill her. She was saved by her dog, which attacked the man, and Dora got out of it alive. She suffered severe injuries and a cut on her foot from the knife. The Greek judicial system in such cases calls for immediate lawsuits, which was Dora's action after visiting a medical examiner who evaluated her case. She was soon to be free - she was just waiting for the date that they will go to court.
But it didn't stop there. Taking advantage of the impotence of the Greek police, he recently showed up in her neighborhood and continues to do so in a daily basis, following her and waiting for her to be alone. Dora fears for her life, she has lost her sleep and comfort within her own home, and the police refuse to take action because "he's just watching".
The date of the court hasn't even been announced yet, and due to the current COVID19 crisis, courts are closed until the 18. of September. But even when they re-open, Dora is scared that her folder will be among so many folders needing attention that she will stay even longer in this horrifying situation.
Now she is trying to move to a different area for her own protection and maybe even gather some money for a restraining order, which costs 1200€. Counting for 2 rents upfront, a moving company, the restraining order and legal expenses, we are hoping to raise 2500€ and help her in her new beginning, towards a safe life.
Please help Dora feel safe again.
