Our Bichon, Charlie, has undergone extensive surgery already and has lost 1/3 of his bladder with the remainder being seriously compromised, thus putting his life in jeopardy.  This is all due to neglect by a kennel.  He is surrounded by a great team of doctors, but this comes at a significant cost.         When we dropped Charlie at the kennel, prior to our week vacation recently, he had just had a physical and was given a clean bill of health.  We assumed the kennel would monitor his food intake and urination.  However, he went many days without urninating.  The dog was left puking bile and fighting for his life, while the kennel didn't think he was sick.  When we came home from vacation, we discovered a very ill dog.  We immediately took him to the emergency hospital and found out that he could not urinate due to bladder stones that had caused a serious blockage.  We were told by the doctor that Charlie hadn't peed in days and that if this was detected sooner, he wouldn't be fighting for his life right now.  Charlie's bladder became seriously infected with toxins and an Ecoli infection from not urinating and this backed up in to his kidneys.         Charlie's bladder was so badly infected that a team of doctors went through great lengths to perform a very risky procedure to insert a catheter to help "flush" his bladder from all the toxins first and get his levels to stabilize for possible bladder surgery.  This took 5 days in an emergency setting with 24 hour care.  The good news is that Charlie overcame the odds and survived and levels were stabilized for bladder surgery.         The bad news is that upon attempting the surgery, all of this has caused his bladder to start rotting.  1/3 of his bladder had to be removed along with several stones.  Now, Charlie will need a minimum of 10 days more of emergency hospitalization to see if his bladder will recover and restore normal function.         My 4 year old son wants to know when his best friend, Charlie, will come home again.  The cost to bring him home is more than our family can bear.  Charlie's bills are $8,200 and counting.  We are trying to raise money to keep him in the hospital and give him a fighting chance.  Please help us to bring him home to our family.

  • Thank you to all who have donated thus far to Charlie's cause. He continues to show small improvements daily and we hope to have him home from the vet full time soon. He has many obstacles to overcome but with everyone's well wishes, he's still with us. Your generosity means so much to our family. We are very blessed!
