Please Help Save Baby Joaquin from Biliary Atresia

Biliary Atresia is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. When a baby has biliary atresia, bile flow from the liver to the gallbladder is blocked. This causes the bile to be trapped inside the liver, quickly causing damage and scarring of the liver cells (cirrhosis), and eventually liver failure. A lot of complications can happen due to biliary atresia: abnormal fluid retention in the abdomen, internal bleeding, easy bruising of the skin, nosebleeds, and enlarged veins in the stomach and esophagus and if not treated immediately will cause death.

He is scheduled for liver transplant before he turns 1 in October 2016. The liver transplant costs 4-5 million pesos and we need every help we can get in order to save our baby.

We are still hoping and praying for a miracle to happen, for him to be healed and his liver to recover from scarring. But we need to take action now and give him the help he needs in order to survive.
