Update Feb 22 2018

Jack was placed on 8.5cc every 4 hours but they stopped due to residuals on ogt and distended but soft abdomen. He is also not able to poop without assistance.

We are currently on KMC or Kangaroo mother care to enable him to conserve his body heat and energy for him to grow. He is on day 6/21 of his antibiotics treatment for the bacteria that grew on his blood culture test. His current weight is at 1.045.

Update Feb 21 2018

They increased feeding on Jack and they also removed his oxygen letting him breathe on his own..he still has blood infection and is still on antibiotics. But his chest xray results have cleared so far.

His current weight is at 1.15 after being erratic for the past few days.

I also have problems with Paypal. They have limited my account and are wanting me to provide documents for a business eventhough I have requested my account to be downgraded from business to personal. I have emailed them already to try and resolve the issue and hopefully they do.

Update Feb 17 2018

Jack's blood sugar is running low because of blood infection and he is still on antibiotics.

If his blood sugar is still low they may have to cut down his neck to insert a tube to help increase blood sugar levels instead of the usual dextrose that runs through his hands and/or feet. Please pray that they won't have to resort to this procedure.

His weight dropped so they have tried to increase feeding currently to 5cc every 4 hours.

Our Paypal account is on limited access because it is on a business and not personal account. We need the funds in order to pay off the debt from the previous hospital. We are still working with Paypal re: the issue.

Update Feb 16 2018

Jackjack still has blood infection. Bacteria is sensitive to antibiotics so they are switching again.

His weight dropped to 1.01.

His weight upon admission was 1.09. He is continuously being fed breastmilk 2cc every 4 hours.

His stomach is a bit distended but soft and he is pooping normally but they have to poke him to assist in pooping.

They asked another doctor's opinion re: his stomach but this is because Jack can't tolerate feeding. Every time they increase feeding he expels gastric residues so they are doing it slowly.

Update Feb 9 2018

I just tried to search Jack Damien on Google and our Gogetfunding page came up.

I just hope his doctors and nurses don't Google his name because taking photos inside the ICU is not allowed and I might get in trouble.

They prohibit taking photos because some people do it and print out the babies photos to try and solicit money from commuters even though the child in the photo is not theirs.

I would like to post more photos of jack's progress but I dont want to get in trouble and get the nurses and doctors in trouble as well.

So kindly understand if we won't be posting any more images. :(

If you still wish to view Jack's photos, you may send me a message here or on Facebook and we'll work something out. I am also refraining from sharing his photos on any social media sites for privacy.

Jack had an xray procedure this morning. The doctors did not bother to explain what the procedure is for, but I managed to read the paper and it said something about "retractions" and "hospital acquired pneumonia". I will ask the doctor later on and add an update.

They are trying to rule out pneumonia and see if medications will be able to combat it.

Jack is now 1.165kg and still have a long way to go.

Your continous prayers and support are very much appreciated.

Update February 8 2018

Hello everyone. Thank you for your prayers.

Today I spoke with one of Jack's doctors, Dra V. Pasol and one of his nurses, Marivic.

Cranial ultrasound results are ok. No hydrocephalus or bleeding detected.

He has hospital acquired infection so his blood and urine were tested for bacterial growth and there is none, thank God.

For his blood transfusion this is due to anemia and/or low hemoglobin count. They have done a total of 2 to 3 transfusions here in NCH so far.

ABG test results are ok so far. He underwent 3 ABG tests at PCMC and is showing signs of improvement.

Jack's Tito Obbie will get his birth certificate and blood cs results from Marikina tomorrow.

I forgot to add that last February 4 2018, baby Jack was officially baptized by a priest here in NCH right after the Sunday mass. His baptismal certificate was delivered here in the hospital around Tuesday if I am not mistaken.

We welcome Jack to the Christian world and thank God for the gift of life. We are planning to have a celebration as soon as he is able to go home with us.

Please continue to pray for our baby, and share the link to friends if they wish to help.

Jack turned a month old last February 3rd. We thank our Lord for the miracle and gift of life. When he was born, we were advised by the doctor that he would not ask for a week and yet here we are. :)

We apologize again for the lack of updates as internet has been wonky these past few weeks.

On the afternoon of Feb 1 2018 we managed to transfer Jack from Marikina Valley to National Childrens Hospital. NCH is a government hospital, and while we won't be 100% covered the bill would be cheaper compared to a private hospital.

We transported him via AceCor ambulance that costed us Php7000. He was admitted in the charity ward ICU and had to undergo a series of tests as he is a transferee from another hospital. I managed to fix his Philhealth papers and spoke with the social workers there. They advised us that we will still have to pay out of pocket for some expenses such as lab tests one of which is ABG or arterial blood gas that is about 427Php excluding the fare to and fro. I have to bring the blood sample from NCH to another hospital called PCMC as the abg test is not available in NCH.

We also had to fork out 8200Php for his ventilator cpap rental as this is handled by a 3rd party company and not by the hospital.

His chest xray shows some blank patches which could possibly lead to pneumonia.

He has some gastric residues from feeding so they lowered the intake of breastmilk as he is not able to fully digest everything.

They tried to remove the ventilator and cpap to see if he can tolerate just plain oxygen.

He is still taking antibiotics to help fight sepsis.

He is scheduled for a cranial ultrasound today to rule out any bleeding on the brain and also hydrocephalus. This procedure is also an out of pocket expense for us.

Please continue to pray for our brave angel.

Life as a parent/watcher in NCH is not easy because there are no proper facilities and the hospital is old but we are getting by.

Please continue to pray and share this page to others so we can help Jack.

Thank you for your prayers and assistance.

Thank you to everyone who have sent in their donations to Jack via this site. We would like to inform everyone that we won't be getting 100% of the published amount because of Gogetfunding deductions and Paypal fees. Rest assured that the proceeds will definitely go towards his hospitalization and treatment. Jack underwent blood transfusion due to low CBC (complete blood count) results. The doctor also noticed greenish secretion from his mouth, but they are waiting for another occurence before a lab test about it can be conducted. He is being fed every 3 or 4 hours. Some of the cash raised offline is being used for his lab tests, medicine, and supplies on a daily basis. His daily expenses are about 2k to 10k depending on the requests. We are also in the process of transferring him to a government hospital however this is not easy, as the hospital is asking for the remaining and/or running balance to be settled or a post-dated check to be issued in the absence of guarantors and collaterals. Hospital running bill is about 200K+.

I would like to thank everyone who donated for Jack so far. We also have mommies who donated breast milk for him. Jack has to undergo a series of tests like ABG (arterial blood gas), packed red blood cells with crossmatching, pulmonary tests. His sodium and blood sugar levels are low, and he is constantly being monitored for sleep apnea. The costs for his daily medical supplies are quite high, and the medicines too. All these we have to pay out of pocket on a daily basis. So your donations are a big help, as well as your prayers. His digestion is okay. He is taking all breast milk; absolutely no milk formula. He lost a bit of weight which is normal as per his pedia.

Attached is his latest photo taken by his dad, Gabriel. As I am not allowed to go near him because of a slight fever. Please continue to pray and spread the word for our brave little angel.
