Baby April has Billiary Atresia diagnosed Oct. 25 2016. Bile flow from the liver to the gallbladder is blocked, causing it to be trapped and scars the liver.
Biliary Atresia is a serious but rare disease that affects newborn infants. It is a liver disease wherein the bile ducts are deficient or inflamed or, unable to transmit bile out of the liver. When bile builds up, it can damage the liver causing scarring and loss of tissue. Consequently, the liver will rot if not taken out and replaced. A liver transplant is deemed necessary within the first one to two years of life.
Baby April is now 6 mos. (7mos. on Nov. 10) old. Her liver is already hard which is a sign that the liver is starting to have some scar. The doctor suggested her to undergo liver transplant in which the operation cost is way too expensive. She is taking medications today to support her liver while transplant is not yet done.
Help us fund her liver transplant that would go around Php4M but will be around Php3M deducting the government aid. We are also preparing for pre-LT procedures such as vaccines and liver donor matching.
For any questions about her now, you may send e-mail to [email protected] for more info. Or you may contact the number posted in the cover photo. You can PM us for immediate info and how you can help.
