Hello, everyone. I (Nathan Patdu) am writing this petition in behalf of lirms.

Liremay R. Saladaga (Lirms) is a 28-year-old young doctor from Cebu City. She was born and raised in Brgy. Camoboan at the small municipality of Tabogon, Cebu. She is of humble origins and was often in the care of her mother (recently deceased) since her father works overseas. She has one sibling, her elder sister, who works as a nurse.

She completed her primary education at a local public institution at her hometown in which she graduated at the top of her class. She was sent to Cebu City by her parents to finish both her secondary (University of San Carlos) and tertiary education (Cebu Doctor's University - BS Biology).

A few months after graduating from her baccalaureate degree she decided to pursue Medicine (Gullas College of Medicine). It was during this time wherein I had the chance to meet her. For the majority of my adult life, I have never met someone who was so happy, cheerful, kind, humble, and God-fearing. A person who loves fully without a second thought. A person who puts her family and their well-being first before her own. You could say that she truly is a ray of sunshine even during the grimmest of times. I do not know what she saw in me, but I saw everything in her. She was the person who made me feel at home in a city wherein I had nobody to lean on. She became my family, my home. We journeyed and finished Medical School together. Our first time being apart for a long period of time was when we did our Post Graduate Internship (PGI) at different institutions. She stayed in Cebu while I finished my internship at my hometown in Mindanao. We were reunited during our review for the Physician Licensure Exam (PLE - March 2022).

It was during this time (2021) when tragedy first struck. Her mother, who was her closest confidant, was diagnosed with a terminal stage of tongue cancer. Her whole family was in shocked and in utter disbelief of the current situation, but she took it the hardest. As a person in the medical field, she knew that her mother was living on borrowed time, that no matter how much they so wanted to keep her alive she was nearing the end of her life. At the first half of the year 2022 her mother passed. She was so distraught during this time that she could not focus on her review for our examination.

The stress of everything that was happening eventually took a toll on her body. She started looking pale, feeling weak, had chest pains and headaches and random fevers of no apparent cause. Who would have thought that these were the initial signs of her condition? She shrugged it off as just a lack of sleep or due to stress. She soldiered through everything and took the October (PLE). She knew that she was lacking in preparation, but she took the exam, nonetheless. She had faith in herself and in the Lord, but most of all she wanted to make her late mother proud.

October 2022. She took the exam and she passed. She was now a licensed physician. She was so happy knowing that she made her family proud. But this happiness would be short-lived as after 5 days from knowing the result she started feeling weak again, she looked pale, she had intermittent fever, her headaches came back, she had petechiaes and bruises, her abdomen was enlarged. She decided to have herself worked-up at a private hospital in the city. Her results were bad, most of her blood parameters were dangerously low (Platelet, Hemoglobin, RBCs) and her Blast cells were high, her spleen was enlarged.

She was immediately admitted (November 15, 2022) and was diagnosed and managed as a case of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She is still currently confined at the Hospital and has managed to undergo only 1 session (1 out of 7) of her 1st chemotherapy cycle. Her sessions deferred due to her having a fever, low Hgb, low platelets. She has pleural effusion on her left lung. She is in constant need of blood and platelet donors for transfusion. She is getting weaker day by the day, even small day-to-day activities are a struggle for her such as simply standing up and going to the bathroom, sitting, and sometimes even just staying awake and talking.

Seeing her in this state of constant pain and suffering is heartbreaking. It pains me so much, how could a person who is this kind and generous be given such a terrible disease? It makes me angry and doubt. But she assures me that God always has a plan for everything and that she too will overcome this. She has never wavered in her faith. She is fighting. Fighting for her life, for her family, and for everyone who loves her. She is willing to undergo treatment and suffer through all the pain because she believes that she can do it, and if she says that she can then we shall support her in her journey. She is at the peak of her life and has so much to live for, so much more to give, and so much more to help. Help me save this young doctor

Lirms is still currently admitted and has yet to complete her first cycle of chemotherapy. Her current medical bill as of now is already reaching the 7-digit mark. With this, your contribution of any amount is very much welcome and will be greatly appreciated. This will definitely help her go through all the chemotherapy and treatment that she will undergo this time and for future admissions. Blood and platelet donations are also welcome (Blood type O Positive). Thank you and God bless to everyone for all your kindness and generosity.

Please always include her in your thoughts and prayers.
