Campaign Story
7 year old Fianzy Bajado was initially diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia in the year 2015. She was a happy, intelligent, witty and energetic child. Fianzy underwent a series of chemotherapy treatments that ended last March 2019 thanks to the generosity of family and friends. Her parents thought that was the end of it and they felt extremely relieved and overjoyed. However, their happiness proved to be short-lived when last July 2019, Fianzy was admitted to a hospital in Tacloban City because of pneumonia. While at the hospital, Fianzy constantly complained of headaches and her mother noticed that her sleeping time unusually increased. At first she thought it was just a normal thing because she was still recovering from pneumonia but to her dismay a cranial CT scan revealed that Fianzy had moderate communicating hydrocephalus. They were then advised to go to Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC) for thorough medical examination and evaluation. Heeding the advice of the doctors from PCMC, Fianzy underwent brain/head surgery. To their greater dismay, a CSF analysis was performed and the doctors discovered that the little girl had a relapse and that a herpesvirus 6 was detected in her, a very rare type of virus believed to be a first case here in the Philippines. The relapse of Fianzy's leukemia again forced them to continue chemotherapy
The doctors say a good alternative to chemotherapy is bone marrow transplant and Fianzy's twin sister is a good candidate for a matching donor for this procedure. However, a much better alternative exists which is transplant of stem cells that can be obtained from umbilical cord blood. This is highly being considered at the moment because Fianzy's mother is pregnant and expected to deliver a baby through C-section on Apr 17, 2020. Stem cell transplant if pushed through would save Fianzy's twin from the risks and pain of the bone marrow transplant procedure. This procedure, however, costs P6M and Fianzy's medical treatment has now drained the family financially. Fianzy's mother says they would surrender but when they see their daughter's innocent eyes, they see her fighting for her life, and they simply can't give up.
We are knocking on everyone's heart to give Fianzy a fighting chance against leukemia and this very rare virus. As a friend of the mother, I've seen the struggles of the family and I invite people to join little Fianzy's fight. Fianzy is a child of tender years and may not be able to say this but we know she wants to survive. In our hearts, we know that by God's grace and with all your help she will.
Thank you very much!

Get well soon twins. I know kaya nyo yan kasi magpapagaling kayo para sa mom and magiging bagong kapatid nyo.
