Help Samira get a bone marrow transplant!

Hi everyone!

My name is Luciana Mangas, I'm from Brazil and Samira is my baby cousin. She's 10 years old and lives in Belém, in the northern region of Brazil. In January of 2018, she was diagnosed with mediastinal lymphoma. She started chemotherapy and has been going through treatment ever since.

Earlier this year, we were happy to hear that the tumor had disappeared. Even though she was still going through chemo sessions, Samira was able to slowly return to her normal life as a 10-year-old kid.

And then this past August, during a routine check-up, the doctors were surprised to find that her cancer was back. And not only that -- it has also spread to her bone marrow. She has now been diagnosed with acute leukemia, on top of her lymphoma.

She is still going through chemo, but the course of treatment now is a bone marrow transplant. The good news is she already has a donor. Her big sister Bruna, who is 15 years old, is a perfect match.

The bad news is, the city of Belém doesn't have the resources or facilities for the treatment and transplant to happen. That means they are going to have to leave the state to go to a bigger city with better resources, such as São Paulo.

The treatment plan is for that transplant to happen as soon as possible, and she will need to stay in São Paulo for at least 18 months.

And that's why we're here. Her family doesn't have the resources for the trip and the living expenses in São Paulo, as all four of them will need to go, as both patient and donor are underage. We are mobilizing family and friends here in Brazil, but I thought I'd give this an international shot to try and help them raise funds for at least the first six months to a year.
