Just like what my mother said, we have yet to fully recover from Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) 6 years ago, and now here we are again starting from scratch,” Ronan said.

Ronan Renz Napoto, a native of Guiuan and Quinapondan, Eastern Samar is a youth leader and volunteer. What he witnessed in his community when Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit urged him to be an advocate for the climate. Here are a few of the many things that Ronan does for his community at his young age:

  • Together with other youth advocates, he leads the youth climate strike in Tacloban City, urging the local government to take formidable actions and responses against the climate crisis.
  • He aims to empower communities and intensify environmental consciousness by creating platforms for fellow youth advocates.
  • Ronan is also part of the I am Hampaslupa movement which campaigns for #lessmeatmoreveggies as an alternative response towards the climate crisis.

6 years later over Christmas Eve December 24, 2019), Ronan’s community was again left homeless and displaced when Typhoon Ursula (Phanfone) took the same path as Yolanda when it hit the Visayas region of the Philippines. Once again, they have survived the onslaught but the relief and recovery remains to be hardly felt and seen.

Ronan is trying to raise funds for his community to be able to rebuild their homes, restore their livelihoods and reclaim their dignity. Please help him rebuild his community through donation.
