Hello everyone, my name is Karlo Lucas, 38 and I’m writing and setting up this campaign for my wife – Maricelle “Rocky” Raqueño Lucas, 37 years old.
Back in March 2008, my wife was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease) - a kidney disease that occurs when IgA deposits build up in the kidneys, causing inflammation that damages kidney tissues. There’s no cure and we did everything to control and slow down the progress of her condition. Unfortunately, on August 2018, it was discovered that her kidneys have further degraded and she would now need kidney transplant. Fortunately, her sister, Rochelle "Che-Che", 35 is willing to donate her kidney and is a match. I was also on standby as a donor. All of the transplant tests have already been done and hopefully by March/April 2019, her transplant operation would push through. For the meantime, Rocky is currently undergoing dialysis and we are very hopeful for a positive outcome.
My wife is one of the most thoughtful and well-spirited person I know. Her personality always brings a smile to people she’s with. She always thinks of others’ well-being 1st before herself – often times, leaving her with nothing. She helps people as best as she can, without her asking anything in return. As a couple, we have been trying to have a family for years now. But because of her condition, she has been challenged in conceiving. We plan that after the operation – we can again continue try to having children. And hopefully be successful as we already have names for our future son/daughter!
We have tried our best to prepare financially – but the fact is, we fell short. With the additional cost of medical expenses on Rochelle’s side, and the miscellaneous costs (additional medicines, tests and follow-up appointments) – we are falling short.
I’m knocking to your kind heart and are asking for donations. All funds received will be used to alleviate the financial strain brought on by both Rocky and Rochelle’s operations. Any donation, big or small, is deeply and sincerely appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please pray for their successful operation and share the link to this cause.
Thank you everyone and have a blessed day!
