Please Help Baby Neenah and her Mom, Rizalina!

Hi there, to help you understand the cause for this campaign, we want to give you a background and the gist of the turn of events and how 2017 started for the lives of the mother and daughter in the images.

Last December 2016, Rizalina started complaining about difficulty in breathing and feeling bloated all the time - she described the feeling as her abdomen always felt like it was filled with water. She had been checked prior to that month, but due to financial difficulties and being a single mother, her main focus was to take care of her little girl, Neenah, instead of being confined in the hospital for further tests.

Come January 21st 2017, she finally agreed to undergo several tests because the pain became unbearable and she was hardly ever able to take care of her daughter anymore because of it. We helped her with her hospital bills and had her checked out; Neenah, on the other hand was left to our care. She underwent the standard tests/procedures to determine what ails her. After initial testing, she was initially diagnosed with PTB, but then eventually was diagnosed with Abdominopelvic Malignancy. She was issued a discharge slip after as the doctors advised that she was too weak for Chemo already. She was set to go home January 24th, 2017, but we came short of what was needed for her hospital bills, so we still had to find ways to pay up the bills before she was allowed to be discharged. She was checked and confined in East Avenue Medical Center, and the total bill was up to Php 60,000++. Luckily, with good Samaritans who helped, we were able to lower the bill to Php 40,000++ after discounts; but even then, we had to resort to counting every last cent we had to come up with the amount. She is now home and taking medicine and eating healthy and fighting so she can see her baby again soon. But here comes the heartbreaking part...

The day after we found out Rizalina's condition (we haven't even told her the news that day), her baby Neenah had to be rushed to the hospital. We brought her to Jesus Delgado Memorial Hospital that night because she was lethargic, nauseated and feverish throughout the day. We were then discharged around 1-2am of January 25, 2017 after IVs. Around 2:30am, we had to rush her back to the hospital because she had very high fever and frequent convulsions. She was confined that day, and later on was given the news that she may be suffering from Bacterial Meningitis. We were told that the bacteria that had infected our Baby Neenah was very strong and was immediately given general antibiotics to fight them off. The very same day, she was given oxygen then intubated and we were told that because the bacteria had progressed so fast in so little time, she may not be able to live through the night. Also, the doctors said she had to be transferred to the PICU because she was in very critical condition, but that we had to provide a deposit of Php 40,000 and update the payment daily so they can keep Neenah under their care. As what happened, we did not have that kind of money and neither did her mother who was still in the hospital with no clue as to what was happening to her daughter. We had lost hope when some good people from the hospital assisted us to have Neenah transferred immediately to East Avenue Medical Center as soon as she was able to handle the travel. We knew too well there was a big risk in agreeing to that, but we had no choice, we didn't have the money. Neenah was then transferred to East Avenue Medical Center that night and stayed in a stuporous state for a few more days with the doctors offering very little hope for us that she can survive this.

The mother-and-daughter stayed in the hospital for a few days without ever knowing the condition of the other, then came the day that we were finally able to come up with the sum of money via a loan to have Rizalina released from the hospital. She is now in our home resting and praying that her baby daughter finally will be able to come home to her. Neenah, on the other hand, is still in the PICU of East Avenue Medical Center being diagnosed for possible TB Meningitis. Lumbar Puncture has yet to be done, as the doctors deem it's still not safe for her to undergo one. CT Scan is clear. And fortunately, she went against the odds that her doctors advised us of. Despite still needing assistance via a tube to breathe, she is now conscious and fighting off the bacteria with much improvement. To this day, she is still recuperating and her hospital bills are piling up, and we've been advised that even after she fights off the bacteria completely, she will still need much medication and possible therapy due to the trauma that the disease may have caused. We are down to our last few pesos and need much help in helping out Rizalina and Baby Neenah be reunited in their home.

This campaign is put up to help us out with their hospital and maintenance bills. Neenah is very young and barely 2 years of age and her mother Rizalina is doing her best to be strong and be there for her daughter. Please help us in any way you can. We have left the "limit" of the campaign open, but we will update this page every now and then for all of you. But more than financial aid, if anyone out there reading this is aware of any organizations who may be able to help us or doctors who may be able to help us, it will be very much appreciated. Prayers are also ALWAYS very much helpful.

Again, we are appealing to your hearts that you may help us in this very difficult time.

Thank you and God bless you tenfold.

Update posted by Neenah Escobido at 06:50 am

Hi everyone, Baby Neenah has just undergone Spinal Tap or Lumbar Puncture this afternoon. This will help the doctors in determining which bacteria had made its way into her brain, and will help them to give her a more appropriate treatment to tackle the bacteria. She also has Arterial Blood. . . . .

Update posted by Neenah Escobido at 06:15 am

Neenah is now awake and very much conscious. Thank God. She still needs help breathing on her own so she still has tubes. ABG Testing is done frequently. The doctors told us she has TB or tuberculosis, so she will have to be treated for that as well. Our current. . . . .
