Help Save My Home Through this Hurricane Season

Hello everyone! I don’t usually ask anyone for financial help, but I’m in a very desperate situation.

I need $3500 to repair my roof and windows.

In October of last year, Nassau, the Bahamas was hit directly by Hurricane Matthew - the most devastating hurricane to hit the island in the last 90 or so years. As a result, my house was completely flooded, personal items were destroyed, and my roof sustained significant damage. In fact, a portion of my roof was completely destroyed (see photo).

I couldn’t afford to pay a contactor to repair the damages after Matthew (was unemployed at the time; I'm still only working part-time), so I used the little I made from doing odd jobs to buy material and did a few repairs myself. I did a patch job on the areas of the roof that got damaged, and covered the part that got destroyed with a few tarps. That did the job for the time being.

Another Hurricane season is upon us and we get hit by thunder and tropical storms about every two weeks. The patch jobs that I did have basically been undone, more shingles and asphalt got ripped up, and the tarps are all either torn to shreds or completely gone in the wind.

My house can’t survive another storm!

I’m not asking for money to build a brand new roof or to completely repair my house; I’ll work on that when I find more stable employment. I just need to repair the damages to my current roof and windows before my house completely fall apart due to these storms.
