₱51,468raised of ₱500,000.00 goal
This fund raising activity aims to help rebuild village houses that were severely damaged as an aftermath of the Super Typhoon Rai (locally known as Odette) which made its landfall in the Philippines on the 16th December 2021, bringing torrential rains, violent winds exceeding 260 km/h (160 m/h), floods and storm surges to the Visayas and Mindanao islands. My hometown Moalboal, Cebu is one of the many places that suffered greatly from the typhoon's impact. Lucky enough for me and my family we only suffer moderate damage. However not everyone is as lucky, a lot of our neighbors lost their homes and livelihood overnight. The typhoon left hundreds if not thousands of families in Moalboal homeless, placing at risk for some of the impressive social and economic gains made since recovering from the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic of the past two years.
Needs are tremendous as these displaced families require safe, temporary shelter and repair kits to rebuild their homes apart from food, potable water and medicines. Thankfully people from unaffected islands have been continuously sending out relief aids (mostly food and potable water).
As we welcome this coming new year, may we be able to give these displaced families not just new homes but also new hope and new beginning. Any amount of help big or small goes a long way in making this possible.
I personally would like to also use this opportunity to extend help to my fellow Moalboalanons by facilitating this fund raising activity and make use of my social and professional network to gather funds which will be used for the purchase of construction materials and labor costs.
