Simone Gerritsen has been a scuba diver for over 40 years, and is a PADI Course Director. She's the managing owner of Thalassa Dive Resorts Indonesia. Living in Indonesia since 1996, Simone got actively involved in not just diving, but also teaching. In 2001 she started the process of building a vocational high school in Tongkaina, a village near Manado, North Sulawesi.
Simone is a builder and teacher by heart, but on September 11th 2019, the unthinkable happened: her house near Tongkaina caught fire. The upper floor was completely destroyed, while most of the lower floor was damaged by smoke and water. Simone herself is fine — she wasn't there when it happened.
There's not much left of the house she designed herself, but we want to return it to her somehow. The insurance company doesn't cover this kind of fire damage due to nebulous regulations, so we need your generosity to help her out.
She will not like this kind of attention, but you know what, we don't care. She lost her home, and that is one of the worst things that can happen to anyone.
This is the least we can do for someone who means so much to so many people. Let's pull together and help Simone get her house back!
We thank you for any and all donations you make!
