Help Rebecca Save the Planet!

Feeling overwhelmed by all the negative news about the state of our planet? Climate change, pollution, plastic waste, wildlife extinction, natural disasters...the list goes on. And our individual efforts to make change seem like insignificant drops in the bucket. It can be demoralizing and discouraging, even downright frightening.

I've been struggling with all those feelings, too, and yet, I continue making small changes in my life, knowing that many people making small changes adds up. At some point, if enough of us persevere, we will see real, positive, and lasting change for the better. We can save this planet, even if our politicians and heads of corporations are blinded by their short-sighted greed and quests for power and control.

Now, I'm going to Atlanta in March, to attend Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training. I will develop a deeper and more nuanced understanding of all the problems, and I will also come away with more hope and clear-cut solutions. I will be empowered to act on those solutions and share what I've learned with others about the reality of our climate crisis.

As a planet, we're nearing a point of no return, but we're not there yet. There's still hope and there's still time to turn things around. Let's protect the planet for our children, our grandchildren, and for generations to come. Let's protect the planet for all the diverse and amazing wildlife that share their home with us.

I am in a unique position of being able to suspend my life and go to this three day intensive training. I don't have children to take care of and I'm my own boss, so I have the freedom to take advantage of this opportunity that many others don't. I plan to use my privilege in service to others, but I also need your help. I will need transportation, hotel, and food costs covered. And although being self-employed means I get to make my own schedule, it also means that I don't get paid for days I don't work, so I also need help making up for lost income while I travel and attend this training.
