ABOUT FUNDACIÓN CORAJEM

Fundación CoraJeM is a foundation based in Cartagena, Colombia, with the primary purpose of helping children in the communities of Villa Gloria and Marlinda, located in the sector of La Boquilla. The aim of the foundation is to educate and coach the children, to provide them with opportunities for self-improvement; to show them that poverty shouldn't stop them from dreaming big - and achieving big too.

On December 12th, 2016 the foundation officially opened its doors, offering more than 20 children breakfast and a safe place to meet. The foundation provides food, clothing, medicine and school supplies to some of the most vulnerable families in Cartagena, as well as an English program and workshops teaching and encouraging entrepreneurship; both of which will give the children a head start in life, and will eventually allow them to make their own paths towards success.

HOW WILL YOUR DONATION BE USED?

Donations received from external sources will be invested directly into the community - whether it's for buying school materials for the children such as notebooks, pens and pencils, donating clothes, renting a space in Villa Gloria to teach the English class in, or used for specific cases such as buying a hearing aid for a 6 year-old kid who has never been able to hear properly due to lack of resources.

Unfortunately, some of these children have experienced violence or come from broken families. Some are left parentless or find themselves in similar devastating situations, which can put their whole futures at risk as their ability to study is greatly affected due to the economic strain that single parents with multiple children are put under. Some parents don't manage to make anywhere near the Colombian minimum wage of $700,000 COP ($245 USD), and have many mouths to feed. The recent death of a father of four of the children involved in the English program has hit the community hard and his presence will undoubtedly be

Fundación CoraJeM can help ease the blow of such bad news by offering support - both emotional and economic - in such difficult times, to let the children know that in their village, where neither public transport nor waste collection will reach - that they have not been forgotten.

Your donation makes a difference. Thank you!
