Help raise money for my cousin’s freedom

My name is Aaliyah. I am a British born, half Pakistani and half Egyptian, 31 year old female who is writing this letter to help my cousin in Egypt. My cousin Mohamed has been in the Tourist industry in Sharm El Sheikh for many years and owned three successful offices.

Unfortunately since the 2015 Russian plane crash which killed 224 people, my cousin’s business took a hard financial hit as many countries understandably banned flying to Sharm El Sheik. To keep his business afloat and thinking that business would pick up in time, Mohamed borrowed a total of £21.000 from friends and associates over these three years as he did not want to lose the business that he worked so hard to build and a business that supported him and his family for years.

The individuals who he has borrowed money off are asking for their money back with interest and have gotten the Egyptian police involved. Sadly, my cousin has to raise money every month in order not to face imprisonment.

My cousin is a very hard working individual who works 16 hours a day, 7 days a week trying to make ends meet and trying to raise funds but is struggling greatly. Even to this day now, Egypt has lost 60% of the tourist population since the crash happened. His wife has left him as she cannot handle the stress anymore and if he enters prison then he will lose a minimum of three years of his life/freedom, his business and his home.

Our family is small and we are not financially well off. We have only been able to raise £5000 for him and the banks in Egypt are refusing to give him a loan. I am asking everyone and anyone who can provide and/or help raise money for my cousin’s freedom. He is struggling so much and I do not know what else I can do for him as unfortunately I am unable to work full or part time as I am a full time carer for my disabled mother so cannot even help him financially. My cousin does not deserve this, he is a good person who has helped everyone he can since a small age even though he had a tragic upbringing due to his mother passing away when he was a small boy.
