Early in October, I suffered a heart attack. At Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, the cardiologist successfully inserted two stents to support the affected artery walls. The total cost of this procedure is 278,000 Thai baht (approximately $9,200 US). I have worked out a monthly payment schedule with the hospital, but since I am on a fixed income, the payments would be financially crushing.
For the last four years, I have been living in Chiang Mai, Thailand on a retirement visa. I am a retired college teacher of English and an author who came to Thailand to finish a novel trilogy and whose first novel is currently being reviewed by a literary agent. I chose Chiang Mai, since the city is lovely and affordable and I am on a limited income.
A catastrophic health event changes everything. While the hospital agreed to deferred payments, it has put me in a serious economic bind.
That is why I am asking you now to make a donation to defray the costs of the stent procedure.
Whatever you can contribute would be much appreciated. Everything is a gift.
