It was in November 2015, after having complained of stabbing pains in the upper right portion of his abdomen and undergoing an emergency ultrasound procedure and lab tests, when Rafael was found to have a 15cm cancerous tumor in his liver. It was the saddest and scariest news we would ever receive and have to face for the coming days. The only positive thing that his doctor said was that it was resectable or can be taken out thru surgery but they will have to shrink the tumor first since it was too big, and removing it right away will leave him with a very small liver remnant that he might not survive with. He would have to undergo TACE or transarterial chemoembolization this April, a procedure wherein tiny beads, combined with chemo drugs, are injected into the hepatic artery to block a tumour's blood supply to stop its growth and consequently shrink it. The Tace procedure alone costs P300,000 and with other necessary hospitalization expenses like ct scans and lab works would bring up the amount to P400,000. We are asking for your kind help to raise this amount as we have already depleted whatever funds we have from all his hospitalization and medical expenses. Please help us give Rafael a chance to survive the Big "C". Thank you so much and God bless!
