Hi, my name is Radovan Hlôška, I'm 19 years old technical engineering high school student. For more than 2 years me and my friend have been building the largest community around personal electric vehicles in Slovakia. However, what we hope will never happen to any of us has happened to me. Ironically, it happened to me as the first in the world with a given electric-unicycle model.
I lost my electric-unicycle, which was not even a month old in an unfortunate accident when it fell from a hill more than 20 meters / 65 feet high. Luckily, no one was injured in this accident and I was able to climb down to the unicycle. After a quick climb down, the wheel was already on fire, so I knew that I had no more left than to let the unicycle burn, as the batteries were already burning. In an effort to keep the fire small so that the surrounding forest did not start to burn, I inhaled a smaller amount of toxic fumes from plastics, rubber and batteries. Fortunately, nothing serious and after a few hours in the hospital, the lung problem was solved.
However, the financial situation as a student isn´t perfect, so after a year and a half of savings my dream came true - I could buy a Veteran Sherman electric-unicycle. It cost me € 2,340. But right now, after the incident, I can't afford to buy anything else until I make some money again, which is much harder for students in today's covid situation.
My friends told me that I should start this crowdfunding so that it could make it easier for me to return to my favorite hobby or "sport". It was an activity for me that managed to take me out of reality and I took it as a relaxation alongside my life. With the electric-unicycle, we planned big trips around the country during the summer, but now the plans are gone.
The whole incident may have been my fault, but it could have happened to any of us. Thank you in advance for any help, whether mental or financial, i really appreciate it.
It´s not manufacturer problem and I´m not blaming the manufacturer of the wheel, this would not happen if the 35kg wheel didn´t drop on the rocks down there from 15+ metres. I was very happy with the wheel itself and really want to get it again in the future if it would be possible.
