Help purchase a hand cycle and racing wheelchair.

The Person

Jamie has had a very trying life. He was born with Ive's Mark Syndrome and Situs Inverious. Either of these conditions should have claimed his life in infancy, but hefought everyday of his life to live. Growing up he wasnt able to play sports, because any collision could leave him paralyzed. To help prevent this from occuring he wore a back brace his entire childhood. When he was 16, one year before he was suppose to have spinal surgery to fix the vertebrae in his back, he was involved in a car accident, which left him paralyzed from the waist down and has since needed a wheelchair to get around.  One positive outcome is that Jamie can now participate in athletics and the possibility to compete at the highest level of wheelchair sports, but he cannot do it without your help.

The Cause

This page has been setup to help put together funding to get Jamie the equipment he needs to compete in athletic events. Currently he has been using his everyday wheelchair to compete, but it isnt designed or capable of handling the racing speeds and he spends most of his time fixing parts that have broken on the wheelchair.

Unfortunately, like most wheelchair related items a hand cycle and racing wheelchair are very expensive, together they total $14,000. Altough Jamie has been saving for them it would take him years to put together the money for them and by then it would be to laye to achieve his goals.

If we are able to raise the money needed to purchase one or both of the pieces of equipment a facebook page and website will be setup to help everyone who donated follow Jamie's progress and achievements.
