Hello Friends,

My name is Ufomba Uzochukwu Prince, a mathematician and graduate of the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. I started working with numbers at the age of 10 and officially started learning programming at the age of 16, now I am highly passionate about exploring data science to solve compelling problems in Sub-Saharan Africa. Primarily in the area of crime pattern analysis for crime prevention.

Africa, my continent currently has a population of about 1.3 billion with a median age of 19.4 years and a growing high crime rate of 31% which is making the African continent volatile and extremely unsafe for its inhabitants and visitors. This has been predicated on several factors such as unemployment, illiteracy, poor governance etc. The fact is if it can’t be measured then it cannot be improved. Current strategic structures to combat crime in Africa is not focused on maximizing intelligence from general and specific crime data to develop strategies to sustainably curb crime in the continent. To this end, I have decided to study Masters in Applied Mathematics for network and data science at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany. No doubt, With the quality of this program of study and curriculum, I am confident that the program will help me adequately prepare for my vision to apply data science in crime pattern analysis with the aim of supporting the crime prevention activities to curb the alarming crime rate in Africa.

I am from a typical African family of six and I will be the first person in my lineage to attain a graduate school abroad. This will make the third attempt I have tried to go for a graduate program which ended up in disappointment because my parents were unable to finance my study. At the moment, I don’t still have means to meet my living expenses while studying in Germany, therefore I am soliciting for support of individuals like you to make my dream a reality.

The total cost of my living expenses as stated by the German embassy is €9500 for a period of one year. Am expected to present my proof of fund for living expense to the embassy latest 10th August 2018, so as to enable the embassy process my visa application on time, which will help me arrive for study before classes start by 1 October 2018. I will never let you down and will always provide updates during the course of my studies.

No amount is too small to help a brother.

Thank you so much for your concern and response.
