Our Story

Premiere Chicken is a family owned community project in the poor rural community of Patrick Town District in Manchester, Jamaica. We raise chickens and sell them to restaurants and other food related businesses. Keron King, the founder of the company is the first university graduate from his community. After working in the corporate world for many years in banks, schools and other organizations, he received a calling from God in 2014 to leave the corporate world behind and head back to his humble roots to launch Premiere Chicken.

Obeying his calling, he sold his car, resigned from his job and investing all of his life savings into building a coop and starting the business as a community effort. The launch of Premiere Chicken has seen many of the community members, particularly mothers and youth now earning a steady source of income to provide for themselves as well as their families.  

Our Impact On Our Community

Today Premiere Chicken is thought of more as a community project rather than a business, and the workers are considered as our family rather than just employees. We give back to our community in any way that we can, such as providing financial aid to students for back to school, donating manure to farmers, donating chicken to poor members of our community and partaking in several outreach initiatives.  

We Need Your Help

Recently in the Christmas season of 2014, we suffered a great loss of over 3,000 chickens due to weather conditions. Our coop wasn’t able to withstand the climatic conditions of the cold and windy season. Since then the Ministry Of Health has also advised us that we need to construct an enclosed slaughterhouse before the end of May 2015, or face penalties.

How The Donations Will Be Used

We therefore have little choice than to reach out to donors across the world to help us achieve our goals of raising $50,000 USD to rebuild our coop to prevent these heavy losses in the future, as well as to build a slaughterhouse to prevent us from facing sanctions. By improving the coop and building a slaughter house we are not only securing the employment of our current team members, but we will also be in a position to employ even more community members as well and drive the economic growth of our poor rural village.

Upon the successful completions of this crowdfunding campaign we are planning on launching a scholarship fund to improve the education, skills and provide training to the youth in our community. We are also planning to partner with schools in the coming summer to launch a summer employment program for students.
