Campaign Story
Most of us imagine that living on a farm would be hard work .. dawn-to-dusk labour tilling soil, harvesting grain, and caring for animals. But imagine doing that work without a tractor or a truck, using the same rudimentary tools our ancestors used. This is what farming is like for millions of smallholder famers in the NorthernRegions of Ghana.
A tractor is an incredibly beneficial tool to smallholder Ghanaian farmers. Hand tillage is backbreaking work, and it takes up to 5 days to till an acre of land. Tractor tillage is much faster, removes more weeds, and improves yields by aerating the soil.
Where we operate there are limited tractor services available for hire, but they are expensive and often only become available when it is too late in the season to plant.
NCL help poor smallholder farmers by providing a timely tractor tillage services. We have been able to help over a thousand poor farmers to plant on time, which is a major boost for yields. We believe we can do more by getting more tractors through your help. We do this not for money but the opportunity, passion and challenge of it.
