Polo's Refuge is expanding! Help us reach our goal of $15,000 to prepare a second retirement home and expand our program to save more senior dogs.

In 2012, Crossroads Shih Tzu Rescue opened Polo's Refuge, a senior dog retirement home, to further our mission of saving the dogs who need us most. Polo's Refuge is a forever home for senior Shih Tzu and other small breed dogs who, for a variety of reasons usually behavioral or medical, are considered unadoptable yet still have lives to live. The home is an actual "home" with beds and blankets, heat and air conditioning, with a large fenced in yard and daily interaction with the human members of our rescue family.

Since 2012 Polo's Refuge has been home to 37 small breed dogs, and in 4th Quarter 2018 we hope to double the capacity by opening a second retirement home. With this second retirement home CSTR will be able to save more dogs from dying, unwanted and alone, in animal shelters, puppy mills and other situations.

On January 31, 2018, and with the help of our donors, we purchased a 12'x32' building, twice the size of our current building, that we will convert into our second retirement home. As with the first building, $15,000 will be needed to build out, insulate and paint the inside of the new building, provide secure fencing, and outfit the interior with necessary heating and cooling features, plumbing and other amenities that have made such a difference in the lives of the dogs we have saved.

To see our current building and get a peak at the lives of the residents that live there as well as stay up-to-date on the progress being made on the new building, be sure to check out our Polo's Refuge Facebook page.

Will you help us make this expansion a reality by making a donation today?
